Drifts of Ramsons more commonly known as Wild Garlic

Drifts of Ramsons more commonly known as Wild Garlic

Date: 2003

Description: In late April to early May there are drifts of Ramsons (Wild Garlic). They make a wonderful sight and the smell is powerful, but the taste surprisingly mild. During World War II, when onions were scarce, Wild Garlic was a good substitute. Photographed by Ian Thompson as part of a slideshow and talk called 'Walks along Rea Brook'.
