Colours in the bog

Colours in the bog

Date: 2003

Description: The bright colours of Sphagnum subnitens, also known as Lustrous Bog-moss. Bog-mosses are a large family of mosses many of which have bright colouration. Lustrous Bog-moss is relatively widespread in Shropshire and can be found in places where the ground is wet enough and low in nutrients. Many other rare plants and animals are often associated with Bog-mosses. Photograph by Dan Wrench. For more information on mosses, follow the link below to the British Bryological Society's website.
